Black Bear Hunt
There are a few different practices that our camp uses to ensure a top quality harvest ... year in and year out. First of all, the average 21" bear in Northern Saskatchewan is 20 - 25 years old and possibly older. So to ensure a harvest of these trophy bears, we insist on our camp operating in a new location every year. If you hunt the same area every year, the number of bears in the area will provide a successful hunt but the average size will continue to drop.
Our baiting methods are the second reason we can ensure a top quality hunt. We run six hunters a week for four weeks and want at least three baits per hunter. These sites get baited daily and the hits assessed so that we can put our clients onto a trophy bear. We cover enough virgin territory that the 24th hunter at camp has as much opportunity as the 1st hunter in camp to kill the largest bear.
Although it is not the main reason for coming to Northern Saskatchewan, you will also have an opportunity to experience fishing for northern pike and walleye. Depending on the camp's location possibly other species of fish will be available. You will need a Saskatchewan fishing license if you choose to enjoy this opportunity.
